PODCAST PROJECT :Reflection
Beginning of this semester, I was self-learning video editing programs just because it looked pretty fun. By no means am I getting used to it. Before editing single action, I spent good times googling or watching video tutorials of basic features on Premiere Pro. At first, I wanted to use Premiere Pro for this podcast project but I was glad I chose iMovie because it’s much simplified and easy to learn but also practical in future classroom settings.
After writing a rough draft for the script, I began filming and taking pictures for corresponding lines. I was surprised to see how shaky my hand was while filming some scenes on my phone. Surprisingly, I found out some shots are better as still images than videos because I found some videos I took distracting. Although iMovie was pretty straightforward, their limited editing features challenged me to take different pictures/videos to make my podcast more interesting and showcase who I am as an artist. The hardest part was selecting and cutting appropriate images to my script and to my surprise, adding captions took the least time! After a few hours just playing around with the program, I was pretty comfortable using iMovie so I think this would be a great introductory program for students who are interested in filmmaking.
BITMOJI CLASSROOM: reflection
Before assigned to this project, I never heard of "Bitmoji Classroom" before. Sure, I've used bitmoji sending snapchats to my friends but this was my first time using Bitmoji in educational setting. At the end, I was so excited how cute my virtual classroom turned out. Because I was able to customize my own self, it felt more personal and unique compared to using random clipart I found on google search. Even the process for finding objects for the classroom was really fun as if I was decorating in real life. At first, I was definitely intimidated because it seemed weirdly complicated for some reason, however to my surprise, hyperlinking to different images was very easy and fast to do. I definitely think Bitmoji classroom is one of the best way to engage with students while teaching online because on screen, you can copy and paste essentially ANYTHING you want. Despite my worry of my classroom being too "busy", I think adding couple .gif images was a really good idea because it keeps the eye moving instead of boring students as a still image.

Online Art Exhibition Gallery: reflection
|
This project was very cool and super interesting! Although there was bit of learning curve to get around the platform, after getting hang of it, I was thrilled to be my own gallery curator!
For the artist, I chose Keith Haring who is my favorite contemporary artist known for his graphic style with bold use of outlines and color. I thought Keith Haring would be a perfect artist for k-12 classroom not only because his art style is simple enough for young students to try but also his significance during contemporary art movement. |
Animation: reflectionFor this project, I used free animating program called Krita!
Although I've taken storyboarding class, because it was so long ago, I barely remembered how frames work, or navigate through film editing program. Also since I'm illustration major, I am much more comfortable in rendering two-dimensional object instead of creating a smooth animation. So, it was kind of hard, but still pretty fun to see my story come to life! I think adding color, background music really helped to make it more fun and enjoyable to watch. |

Video Tutorial: reflection |
|
By the end of making this project, I was surprised how much comfortable I was with editing videos. I was bit proud that I wasn't frantically googling every single things on how to edit. Clip Studio is one of my favorite drawing program that I've used. Back when I first started digital art, there was more timelapse videos of people drawing but not so much basic tutorials for beginners. In this project, I go over most basic/essential tools need to start making digital art. It was interesting and fun to explain how I work to other people.
